Yes, we've been fishing again...

First trout on a topwater and it's a keeper! Aidan took this lure and put it away on the ride home. He said he's keeping it as a reminder of this trip and his first spotted trout on top.

Our good friend Dylan Ross of DR Lures Custom Baits does it again. The dude gets it! A great trip out of Port O'Connor filled with fun and memories that will last a lifetime. Aidan's comment after a fun day of wade fishing, "Sometimes you just need to get out of the boat." That's a good rule, Aidan Milligan.

He switched back to a bait caster shortly after this pic was taken. I put too much line on the spinning reel and it made casting without knots difficult. So much for that. The kids have both become proficient with bait casters and prefer them. It took me a lot longer to be able to cast like that.

Our good buddy Dylan Ross is a great friend and a great teacher. He spends a good deal of time on the water and is anxious to teach others, especially the younger guns, what he knows. He's a good apple, that Dylan Ross.

That's my personal best, spotted trout, and on a DR Lures custom topwater in plum. She was thick and fought hard, and was released healthy to fight again. Beautiful fish. Thankful for the experience.

Aidan caught his first ever trout on topwater and is hooked! He wandered off on his own and came back with pictures of fish he caught with the margarita color from DR Lures. Aidan is getting it and becoming a fine fisherman, thank in large part to Dylan and his attention and teaching.

Aidan hooked up on a nice trout.

Bring em in easy and pose for a picture.  Aidan is having a pretty good time this weekend.

Normally not all that interested in keeping fish, we decided to keep our limits this trip and put some fish in the freezer for our families to enjoy. We released so many fish during this trip that I lost count.

My personal best.

I love that smile. It reminds me of my youth and all the days this kid has in front of him. Life is good.

Aidan and Dylan back at the ramp. Enough fish to feed us for a good long time. It's catch, picture, and release for the rest of the winter.

Why I do this. Is there anything else I need to say?

Just too good.

Lif is good.
